The Ring of the Fisher King

Historical Novel

World Rights Available

Sarah Bisby gained a BA in Modern European Studies and German from UEA, before making a brief sojourn in the world of Management Consultancy in the UK and Europe, before going on to qualify successively in Anatomy & Physiology, Holistic Massage, Reflexology, Colour Therapy, Crystal Healing, Kinesiology and Spiritual Healing.

On reading The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail by Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln some fifteen years ago, Sarah was inspired to write a novel about the ‘secret tradition’, using as a central theme the legend of the Countess Matilda and the retrieval of her wedding ring at Orval. The novel had to begin with the arrival in 1070 of the mysterious monks from Calabria at her court in the Ardennes: it was a story that must be told.

After spending much time in the intervening years conducting her own research into the issues raised in Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln’s seminal work, travelling extensively to visit spiritual locations featured in her work, Sarah came to the independent conclusion that Goddess worship was at the heart of the mystery.

The resulting book, The Ring of the Fisher King, seemed somewhat obscure – until, that is, the Da Vinci Code became such a resounding success and brought the subject into the mainstream.

Now a self-employed alternative therapist, Sarah gives one to one healing, as well as running meditation/ Goddess groups.

She lives in Kent with her partner and four children.

The Ring of the Fisher King is a historical mystery novel in three parts that adheres closely to the known facts, but has a strong spiritual basis.

At around 260,000 words the manuscript is complete, the first in a planned series of five set during the Crusades, exploring the secret tradition by using real historical characters and real events, as well as drawing on the myths and legends associated with them.

Set during the years 1070 – 1118, it depicts events leading up to the Crusades and the formation of the Order of Sion, the First Crusade itself and its aftermath, which led to the foundation of the Knights Templar - in effect, the background to the novel The Da Vinci Code.

The Ring itself represents a secret tradition called the tradition of the Rosy Cross, centring on Goddess worship: the sacred union of the God and the Goddess principles, in order to maintain harmony and balance.

This device (+) has been conferred upon adherents of the bloodline (kings) and guardians (priests) of the tradition for hundreds of years. The kings of the tradition are called Fisher Kings.

In the C11th, a mysterious group called the Church of John give the ring to a chosen group of nobility from Lorraine and Champagne, led by the Countess Matilda. The nobility call themselves Rex Deus and they are the descendants of the priestly caste of Israel, who survived the destruction of the Temple exactly 1000 years previously.

The two groups come together to form the Order of Sion, whose aim is to re-take Jerusalem and establish it at the head of a new empire ruled by hereditary priest-kings of the bloodline - Fisher Kings.
