Susan Mears numbers among her stable of authors the internationally-renowned Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy, authors of The Jesus Mysteries, Jesus and the Goddess and The Laughing Jesus.
She is also agent for Martin Palmer, million bestselling author of The Illustrated Tao Te Ching, The Jesus Sutras, Living Christianity and Chuang Tzu, his new translation in the Penguin Classics series.
She is also proud to be agent for internationally known Peter Lemesurier, author of the million bestselling Great Pyramid Decoded and the Nostradamus Encyclopaedia.
Susan trained in publishing on the Rider list, then part of Hutchinson but now part of the Random House Group, with Oliver Caldecott, their then Senior Editor.
Subsequently, she was appointed Editor in the Hutchinson division, and in 1987 became Managing Editor at Piatkus Books, where she specialised in Mind, Body and Spirit titles.
Her first commission was The Power of Gems and Crystals by Soozi Holbeche, which has gone on to become a bestseller in its field.
In 1989, Susan went to work for Element Books in Shaftesbury, Dorset , as the Senior Commissioning Editor.
Whilst there she initiated the publishing of health titles, launching their highly successful Health Essentials list.
She also commissioned the million bestselling translation of the Tao Te Ching by Martin Palmer & Jay Ramsay, and went on to represent the highly regarded work The Jesus Sutras by Martin Palmer.
In 1993 she left Element Books and started the Susan Mears Agency, which continued her specialisation in the area of natural health, world spiritual traditions and perennial philosophy.
