Anthony Duncan, once a regular officer in the British Army, served for over thirty years as a parish priest in the Church of England and was latterly an Honorary Canon of Newcastle Cathedral.
He was the author of many books on spiritual, mystical and esoteric subjects and had much experience both as a retreat conductor and as a lecturer on esoteric themes. At different times he lived in Germany in South East Asia and Northumberland, England.
He wrote several classics of Christian spirituality, including Pray and Live, Psychotherapy and Magic, Christ, Lord of the Dance and The Priesthood of Man.
His Elements of Celtic Christianity was a best-seller in the UK and the USA, selling in excess of 150,000 copies (published in 1991 by Element Books, UK, Barnes & Noble, USA).
